[Vwpickups] Re: YUGO Award nominees - a NO vote

If I remember correctly. The Yugo Award was to to be the mechanical
equivalent of the Darwin Award for humans. Although it involves a great deal
of stupidity to be a candidate for either one, no one or nothing wound up
terminated for any of these four candidates. The Yugo and the Darwin both
cost a lot. I would vote to not cheapen the Yugo, but that we create another
award to be called
the DIPS award. Displaying Irresponsible Public Stupidity or just a DIP
award Displaying Irresponsibility Publicly.

One of the very early Yugo award winners left Friday for her second tour of
duty in Iraq. Last trip she came home with a promotion to 1st Lt; a Bronze
Star for meritorious service, and a Combat Action Badge for engaging the
enemy and returning fire. As a Platoon Leader, she went on 31 missions doing
convoy security . She did everyone of the tasks connected with a mission.
She wanted to understand what her soldiers were doing so she would support
them to her upline. This trip she will be off the road working in
operations. A Battle Captain is that friendly voice "back home" who is the
CLP's link to whatever they cannot provide on their own.

Her packet is ready to be presented for promotion to O3 Captain in August.

As a member of the Ordinance Branch, officers are many times assigned as
Maintenance Officer duty. It includes vehicles as well as weapons. She
fully understands the necessity for PMCS. The first chapter was replacing a
shelled 1500 in her pickup.
