[Vwpickups] Still having problems

I'm still having this issue. LMK if any of you have any ideas. I got
another fuel tank and plan to clean it and use it and see if that is the
problem.

I have an 80 VW Dasher 1.5L diesel. It ran when I got it and I got it road
worthy and was driving it regularly. Then one day after driving around I
stopped at my house to change before I went to work and it wouldn't start.
It was warm, it was warm outside, it had just been running completely fine
then it just wouldn't start. Eventually I got it running again after
cranking on it forever. This kept happening with the distance between the
"no start" problem decreasing until it just wouldn't run anymore. The
following are the things I have done to the vehicle since the problem
started:

1. Replaced headgasket

2. Replaced timing belt/tensioner

3. Replaced injectors

4. Replaced glow plugs

5. Replaced all rubber fuel lines

6. Replaced fuel filter twice

7. Replaced injection pump twice

8. Pulled fuel tank, cleaned and reinstalled

9. Added "tick tick" electric pump in between fuel filter and pump

10. Replaced fuel filter housing

I think that's it but WHAT THE HECK ELSE IS THERE!! I've tried all
different types of combinations as far as injection pump timing and
compression is better than good and the starter cranks over the motor just
fine (fairly new anyway).

It's been frustrating to say the least and just when I think it's fixed it
doesn't start again. I've never had it die on me just not start back up
after I turn it off. I suspect a leak in a fuel line but haven't seen or
found anything. I'd just run new fuel line if I knew that would fix it.

Thanks for any ideas!
