TO my knowledge, this is the best TD to use in the A1. There are no
electonics! Do it!

Subject: [Vwpickups] 93 Passat with 1.9td - is this a good donor for Caddy?
Chime in all...
My Caddy pickup engine is getting old and tired. I have a spare 1.6na
currently in an 87 golf that I was going to swap-in.
Now, a guy down the road has a 93 Passat with 1.9td that he wants $500 for.
It has one rusted strut tower that punched up thru the hood.
Does this 93 Passat power train make a good, easy trouble free swap to my
Caddy? Exhaust fabrication I can deal with. Re-routing air intakes and
fuel lines is OK. Welding new engine mounts into the Caddy and transmission
adapter plates are NOT in my future.
Has anyone done this swap, and is it pretty much a bolt-in? Do I get to use
the Passat 5spd?
Any information appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mathew Banack
