Read somewhere that ideally our 1.6L diesel engines should be dynamically timed at 12 degrees BTDC.
So, does this make sense to determine where to set up a "timing mark" to be read by a digital strobe light?

If gasser and diesel flywheels interchange between engines and
both flywheels are 200 mm (8") in size
then both flywheels should have the same number of teeth.

If the gasser flywheel has a TDC mark and a mark 6 degrees before TDC; and the distance from the TDC mark to 6 degrees BTDC, is equal to 12 mm (.472" or 15/32") to the left of the TDC mark,
then the diesel flywheel timing mark, which should be 12 degrees BTDC, would be 24 mm (.944" or 5/16") to the left of the TDC mark.

Therefore
If the gasser flywheel mark at 6 degrees BTDC is 1 1/2 teeth to the left of TDC,
then the 12 degree BTDC mark for the diesel flywheel should be 3 teeth to the left of the TDC mark, which is 15/16" to the left of TDC on the diesel flywheel.

Thanks.
