[Vwpickups] gearbox woes

Not much extra under there besides the clutch bits mentioned...I suppose
if there is any sign of cracking or leaking in the engine rear main seal
you'd want to have that replaced also (can only accessed with the
transmission off).
BTW, if you are going to have that transmission body seal replaced, that
requires a darn near full tear down of the transmission...that's going to
be expensive. You might just consider getting a known good used
transmission..otherwise, have them do a full rebuild (syncros, replace
those soft rivets you already mentioned, replace any gears with chipped
teeth, etc).
