Story: I loaned my diesel to someone and during their use, RED charge lite came on and they continued driving for 12 miles with No water pump. Clouds of steam and No coolant left. Q: what are my chances of it having survived (cyl head/Gasket?

The problem was lost V belt due to the pulley on the alternator coming loose which has worn away the centre and chewed up the shaft key.

Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
