Hi Bill;
I play with Rabbits and Dashers and many times I acquire a car that
has set for 10 years or more. Stuck lug bolts happen even when your local
tire store gets happy with the air. I use an Audi lug wrench which fits
nicely and stays put. I put it on so it is about parallel to the ground then
hike my 230 lbs up on the end and bounce. Just an eighth of a turn and then
the Air impact wrench will work. If I had one that was trying to be extra
tough I would take my 2 foot 1/2 inch drive breaker bar ( Use a Sears or
other brand with a guarantee) and do the same. If it still won't come off
get a 6 ' length of pipe and put it over the breaker bar and either the lug
bolt lets loose, or it breaks, or you break the breaker bar. If the lug bolt
breaks you just have someone with a wire feed welder set a nut on the broken
bolt and weld the center shut to the stub. Then you can take a wrench and
back the bugger out. The heat of welding and the subsequent cooling will
loosen the stuck remains.

Subject: [Vwpickups] Frozen Lug Bolts
All,
Does anybody have a solution for removing frozen lugbolts without damaging
anything? Mine will not come off even with an impact wrench. I'm going to
try hosing them down with PB Blaster and letting them soak today, just
didn't know if anyone had any other solutions.
Thanks,
Bill M.
